Letter From Membership Vice President

To Our Potential New Members,

I am sure there are a million questions going on in your mind right now when it comes to recruitment. Wondering; what we are going to ask, what you should wear and, what is going to happen. All which are reasonable. However, I promise you all will work out. Recruitment is a unique experience. It is beyond exciting and stressful at the same time. But despite all the stress and the wondering I promise you one thing and that is you will find your home.

The start of a new school year is always so exciting, whether it is your first or third here at DePaul. It is a fresh start full of countless opportunities and new beginnings. But with this fresh start it can be overwhelming finding a place where you belong.

For me Alpha Xi Delta is the place I fit in and has provided me a home and support system in a time when I really needed it. I started college in the middle of the pandemic and felt disconnected as I was in St. Louis while majority of my classmates where in Chicago. From the moment I joined Iota Rho, I felt a connection. Although miles apart I was still able to meet my best friends and take on leadership opportunities.

Now that we are back in person, my experience is better than I could ever have imagined. I have found my best friends who go on random Dunkin runs with me and stay up late to talk when I have had a bad day. I have learned how to be a successful leader and pushed myself out of my comfort zone. If it were not for Alpha Xi Delta, I would not be the person I am today.

As you go through recruitment, I hope you also are able to find this fresh start and I know that you also will find your home here at DePaul. I look forward to the day that you run home, and we become sisters. Iota Rho’s goal is for every sister to find her home away from home in this chapter- one where she can learn, grow, share and lead to make this chapter an even better one. So, give yourself some grace, and remember that it all will work out. Embrace this recruitment experience because on bid day it all will be worth it.
